Our Story & Watermen Heritage
For generations, Grant's Oyster House has stood as a cornerstone of Sneads Ferry's commercial fishing tradition—bringing the finest local oysters, blue crabs, shrimp, and other seafood straight from North Carolina waters to your table.
The Legacy of Sneads Ferry Commercial Fishing
Nestled along the shores of New River and Stump Sound in Onslow County, Sneads Ferry is renowned for producing some of the sweetest, saltiest oysters in the United States. Since opening our doors in 1939, Grant's Oyster House has worked hand-in-hand with local boat captains, shuckers, and watermen who brave early mornings on coastal sounds.
We take deep pride in maintaining the old-school commercial fish house ethic: buying local, culling carefully by hand, keeping our products iced at peak freshness, and offering honest advice to every customer who walks through our doors.
Resilience & Community Spirit
When a fire tore through our market facility, the local Sneads Ferry community, commercial fishermen, and loyal customers rallied alongside us. Within days, our team set up temporary sales counters to ensure local restaurants and families never missed their fresh seafood. We are proud to be fully open and continuing this heritage today!
